The flight paths of aircraft arriving in London Luton Airport are changing

London Luton Airport (LLA) and Stansted airports share the same airspace for aircraft arriving at both airports. With the increase in flights at both airports, NATS and LLA want to separate the airspaces to reduce delays and the risk of mid-air collisions.

The proposal is to leave Stansted’s airspace unchanged and to stack aircraft arriving at LLA over Huntingdon and St Neots, an area which also overflies Bourn (see map above). If the proposals are approved changes would not be implemented until February 2022. More information here.

NATS issued a consultation on the proposed options on 19 October 2020. The consultation closes on 5 February 2021. If you want to comment on the proposals, please fill in the consultation form here.
