Many residents will be aware that new bollards were installed on one corner of the War Memorial Green last week. They were installed in an attempt to stop vehicles continually damaging the grassed area around the war memorial and the village oak tree.

Yesterday, Thursday 19th August, around 2.15pm, they were demolished by a tractor and trailer attempting to use the green as a roundabout. There were two similar tractor/trailer combos apparently in convoy, which came into the village from the Longstowe direction before returning in the same direction out of the village, although it is not known whether they returned towards Longstowe or continued towards Toft.

We have descriptions of both the vehicles involved and this has been reported to the police. We also have a CCTV recording of the event which is being copied to the police. Unfortunately, we have been unable to ascertain any specific identifying marks on either tractor or trailer but have got full descriptions of their make, model and colour.

Hopefully someone reading this will be able to help identify the culprits who, to date, have failed to acknowledge their actions. Any information, however small, may be passed, in confidence, to Cllr Rolfe – 07970320130 or les.rolfe@bourn.org.uk – who is dealing with it.
