There is a branch surgery in Great Gransden at midday on Tuesdays, held at the Reading Room, Fox Street. No appointment is needed.

APPOINTMENTS
An appointment system is in use. Please telephone for an appointment on (01954) 719469. Due to the unpredictable nature of any surgery, please be tolerant if we run late. Urgent problems will be fitted into an emergency slot.

WHEN THE SURGERY IS CLOSED OR IN AN EMERGENCY
Please telephone (01954) 719313. Your call will be answered by the out-of hours answering service, who will pass your call to the duty doctor. Advice may be given on the`phone, a home visit arranged, or you may be asked to see the doctor at the emergency centre at CAMDOC, Chesterton Hospital, Union Lane, Cambridge.

HOME VISITS
If you are too ill to come to the surgery, a home visit can be requested by `phoning the surgery before 10:00 if possible, giving details of the illness. This helps us in planning our rounds of this large rural area.

SPECIAL SERVICES

HEALTH CHECKS
Within 1 month of registering all new patients over 5 years old are invited to come for a New Patient Health Check with the Practice Nurse. Please make your appointment at reception when you register.

FAMILY PLANNING
All the doctors and the Practice Nurses provide these services. Dr. Lalli will advise on and fit caps and coils. Women registered with other practices may attend us for Family Planning Services by appointment.

CERVICAL SMEARS
The Practice Nurses (or the Doctors) do these by appointment. These are recommended every 3 years for all women aged 20-40 and 5 yearly for womwn aged40-65.

HOLIDAY/TRAVEL VACCINATIONS
The Practice Nurses are available for holiday advice and vaccinations including typhoid, cholera, hepatitis, tetanus polio, meningitis and rabies.

CLINICS
Our Nurses run the following clinics in conjunction with the Doctors:
Diabetes, Asthma, and Hypertension.
Advice can also be given on adolescent health, smoking, weight, alcohol and healthy living.

CHILD HEALTH
Regular developmental checks for the under 5's are held at the surgery in conjunction with the Health Visitors. If you have any questions about this, ask the Health Visitor.

MINOR SURGERY
This is undertaken by the doctors as necessary. You will be asked to book an appointment with reception.

The receptionist is usually your first contact. She will make your appointment and help you make the best use of our services. If you need to speak to the doctor personally, please ask the receptionist for a convenient time to telephone.

DISPENSARIES

We are a dispensing practice and will dispense all your prescriptions. Ask the doctor about repeat
prescriptions if you are on any regular medication

PRACTICE NURSES
Liz Bloxham (Senior), Ruth Terrell and Tesney Cary
They carry out nursing preocedures, take blood samplesm, administer vaccinations, take blood pressures, run clinics and advise on general health matters. Please make appointments during surgery hours.

NURSE PRACTITIONER
Hedda Jones

Hedda is an experienced nurse who is developing the role of nurse practitioner and is able to treat a variety of problems for all age groups.

DISTRICT NURSES
Heather Green, Jacky Toase and other members of the team will provide nursing care at home. They have an office in the surgery. Please ask the receptionist if you need the nurse to visit. Visits are also arranged by the hospital.

COMMUNITY MIDWIFE

Antenatal Clinics are held on Thursdays from 2-4pm See your Doctor first to book your maternity care.

HEALTH VISITOR

        Julia Fowler

Can be contacted through the Health Visitors' Office at Bourn on (01954) 718316 They advise on general health matters concerning children, and hold regular meetings with the doctors.

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS
To avoid errors and delays, please make your requests in writing by sending us your repeat slip at least 2 working days before you need them. We need this time to get your medicines delivered to the surgery. Weekly deliveries are made to some villages. Email address bourn.dispensary@nhs.net

NEW REGISTRATIONS
We are pleased to accept new patients from the following villages: Arrington, Bourn, Caldecote, Caxton, Comberton, Croydon, Great & Little Eversden, , Great & Little Gransden, Hardwick, Harlton, Kingston, Longstowe, Orwell, Toft, Wimpole.

You can register by presenting your medical card or completing a form GMS1 available from reception.

Patients are registered with the Practice not with an individual GP and are free to see whomever they like. However, due to our large rural area, you new medical card wil be issued in the name of the doctor 'in charge' of your village, who will supervise your care.

Patients are reminded that any violent or abusive behaviour will result in removal from our list.

Patients are reminded of their responsibility to kep all appointments to enable smooth running of the Practice.

SPECIMENS/RESULTS
All specimens should be handed to the nurse or put in the basket by the nurse's station. Please ensure they are clearly labelled with your name and the date.

All the staff are aware of their responsibility to you in maintaining confidentiality at all times. We would like to assure you that all the information about you on the computer is available only to authorised staff.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS
Please note that there is easy wheelchair access to Bourn Surgery.

We are a Training Practice and regularly have GP Registrars seeing patients in normal surgeries. They are fully qualified Drs.
